Godly Spiritual and Integral Psychology explains why humans need to become aware of their connection with God in this modern era. What’s missing for most people is the spiritual knowledge. The perspective of Godly Spiritual and Integral Psychology is clear: the Godly presence in our unconscious aspires for us to become conscious. The meaning and the purpose of life is discovering our true nature, discovering who we really are.
'Only with your heart you can touch the sky' says Rumi. The concept of the Heart, as the center of the human being refers to the sacred place where we can meet God. From here starts the journey towards the discovering and realisation of God's presence within. No matter how many problems we have, no matter how very busy or tired we are, the Heart is always in the present, in the here and now. All that we have to do, every moment, is to turn our look towards our inner being, towards ourself. Thus our daily life becomes a precious chance to continue our journel towards the Godly presence within. Spiritual traditions such as the Sufism, Kashmirian Shaivism, Tantric Tibetan Buddhism, Tantra, they all show us that through spiritual practice, the Heart knows and can find the path towards the Godly presence within, towards the Godly Self. The Heart is related to the Self (which in the hindu tradition is called the Supreme and Eternal Self, Atman). Christianity considers that the Heart is actually the Godly Kingdom. Orthodox Christian Saints talk about praying from the Heart, through the Hesychasm Prayer of the Heart because the Heart is the holy place of communion with God in spirit.
In psychology, the concept of the heart is associated with emotions, with affectivity, with the empathy, even with the emotional inteligence. What has been omitted is that the Heart is actually the spiritual center of the human being, center which is our direct link with God. From this perspective, the perspective of the Heart as the spiritual center, any problem and any difficulty that we face, if experienced and looked at from the level of our spiritual Heart, will transform into an experience which helps us learn and understand more about ourselves, which enriches our self-knowledge.
The Godly Spiritual and Integral Psychology helps in bringing this clarification about the true center of the human being, the Self, which is in essence a Godly Self and on which it is necessary for us to build our own personality. A life that is lived only from the perspective of the ego, an always changing ego, full of desires of all sorts, without any spiritual aspirations, is a life which can be considered dead from the perspective of spiritual traditions. The ego cannot be bound by the beauty of the godly spirit and by the spiritual knowledge for as long as that person's consciousness does not recognise the True Center. In reality, the true healing only comes from the spiritual Heart because the true healer is always God. The Sufi tradition talks about the levels of the Heart, and a more profound one is the Soul. In hindu spirituality, the Soul is called 'the alive soul', jivatma. A personality built upon an authentic center which is the Self is actually a personality which has access to the spiritual knowledge, to the Godly presence which aspires to be lived moment by moment.
In the next articles we will talk about God's presence within us.
May God bless us all!
