In current psychology, the Self is more conceptualised than it is discovered and revealed in the inner reality of the human being. As it is theorised by the psychological schools, the concept of Self is what organize the life of the psychic. Psychology has many definitions, classifications and typologies or categories of the Self and this creates confusion. When I’ve studied the concept of Self I found myself asking these questions: Who created the Self? What is the source of the Self? What does revealing the Self mean? The Godly spiritual psychology answers these questions and also scientifically studies the correspondence between the human psychic, the soul and God. The Self is of a Godly nature and represents the Godly center essence of the human being. This Self is what the wisemen of authentic spiritual traditions call the Immortal Self, Atman. The Godly spiritual psychology makes a clear difference between the concept of Self used in the current psychology and the concept of Godly eternal Self, called Atman. The psychological journey of healing all our trauma and all our sufferings is actually a spiritual journey in seeking the true meaning, the profound truth within ourselves, the fully revealed Godly essence. During this journey, when we start to become aware of ourselves, we discover that our soul is disconnected from the source which gives it life energy. In reality, I have observed and noticed through my clinical experience, that the difficulties and psychological unbalances can be found at a profound level and that they are caused by this separation or by a denial of the Godly Source of the psychic, Source which is God. In the first part of the healing process you need to learn how to help yourself. The self needs to be mature, consolidated, harmonised in order to become aware that it is always united with the eternal Godly Self. The self is what evolves towards the Self. The authentic spiritual traditions offer us the access path towards spiritual knowledge of the relationship self/ego-Self-God. The Godly spiritual psychology, based on clinical research, shows how this relationship functions.

Thus, the self is an ego separated from God, and it has defensive mechanisms which always keep it in a state of suffering. Connecting to the Self is difficult in the beginning. The self needs to make an effort which implies tension and conflicts between different psychic contents may appear. The ego is an individualised self which rejects life and only chooses what it wants or what it considers comfortable for a good life. The ego rejects, gets scared, feels fear and gets contracted when facing unexpected and less joyful situations. The journey towards the Self is difficult and can be made only through repetition and perseverance. Doubts and suffering will be present during this journey, at least on the first part. The ego’s capacity for self control is reduced and that is why any intense situations will overcome it. The human being who feels separated from God is very careful to defend themselves from being harmed by someone else. And this human being often says that the external conditions are the cause for their suffering. The Godly spiritual psychology helps us become aware which are the true Godly resources that the Soul can access and how can the self identify with the Soul and start becoming more and more aware. From here on, the evolution of the self does not need tension and contraction anymore, and the effort (when it is necessary) is accepted as something natural, and any situation, no matter how intense it is, is fully accepted.

When we arrive to this point, the self which is already identified with the Soul, can feel the presence of God, it can perceive the connection with everything around and feels connected to everyone else. This is just a part of what C.G.Jung describes as the Ego-Self axis as being functional. This is rather an intermediary phase and the patient has arrived to the end of his or her first journey in the process of individuation, and the suffering has been erased through the compensation mechanism.

The patient has developed correct attitudes which involve common sense towards oneself and towards life, new behaviours, self-healing skills and is connected to their own needs, has learned how to become aware of their own problems and how to alchemise them through acceptance, forgiveness and love.

The patient can go back to the psychotherapist with a different problem and thus continues their own psychological journey towards healing, and this is true again and again, until the end of their life. This is the end of psychotherapy as we know it.

The Godly spiritual psychology offers the patient several methods to learn how to gain access to the Godly essence and source, how to help themselves, how to learn to feel the presence of God, how to live connected with the others and always connected to God. Following the methods of the Godly spiritual psychology, the self can succeed in consciously identifying with the source of the psychic, the Godly Self, and thus succeeds in finding its true Centre. After living this experience, the human being feels connected with the entire Creation and with the Creator, just like a drop is united with the unending ocean of Consciousness which embraces and penetrates everything. This human being is not only connected with the Centre of everything around but can also feel that themselves are the Centre of everything around. This is a superior phase and is the spiritual journey towards a fully revealed Godly essence, towards a progressive remembering and eventually a full remembering of the Godly essence present within ourselves, the supreme and eternal Self, Atman. The true meaning of our life is to reveal this Godly source which created us. We need to learn to live in permanent communion with God while we live between other people. We have been, we are and will always be one with God.
